Haitian Epis is the ultimate seasoning! Not only does Epis go incredibly well on everything you can eat, but it’s also made with vibrant, healthy and healing ingredients like bell peppers, cloves, celery, garlic, and fresh parsley + thyme that I harvested from my AeroGarden right here in the kitchen. Oh yes my loves! This recipe has just a few simple steps like: blend the Epis, batter the cauliflower, bake, coat them in epic Haitian seasoning, and air fry until browned and golden. This is one of the best recipes to make in an air fryer because you can easily get the cauliflower juicy and moist inside along with a perfectly crunchy and extra crispy seasoned skin on the outside. Make sure to give them a little shake in the air fryer to get every single side fully cooked then after that, all you gotta do is enjoy the colorful Caribbean cuisine and dig in!

Vegan Bouillon Cube (1 Cube)

Chopped Green Onions (1 Cup)

Salt and Pepper to Taste

OPTIONAL - Scotch Bonnet Pepper (1 Pepper)

Grapeseed Oil (⅓-1 Cup)

Vegan Mayonnaise (1 Cup)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Set the air fryer to 400F in preparation to cook the cauliflower bites or if baking, line a baking sheet with silicone or parchment paper.

  2. Make the Epis in a blender by combining together all of the ingredients for the Creamy Haitian Epis and slowly incorporating the grapeseed oil as you blend it together. Add the vegan mayonnaise in last and blend everything together until smooth and creamy. Set the Epis aside.

  3. Make the flour batter by combining all of the dry ingredients together first, seasoning, whisk, and then slowly incorporating the plant-based milk 1/2 cup at a time. Add more or less plant-based milk until the flour batter is smooth, lump free, and has the texture of a thick ranch.

  4. Add in 1/2 cup of the epis seasoning to the flour batter and mix it all together well.

  5. Season the gluten-free breadcrumbs with salt, pepper, thyme, and a small bit of smoked paprika.

  6. Chop the cauliflower into bite-size florets and dip the bites, one at a time in first the flour batter, then coat them all around in the seasoned breadcrumbs, and lay them spaced apart on the lined baking sheet.

  7. Air fry the coated cauliflower at 400F for 12-18 minutes or until slightly golden brown and crispy all around. Shake or flip them halfway through.

  8. Once the cauliflower is crispy and baked, remove them from the air fryer and fully dip, cover, and coat them in the Epis seasoning. Don’t leave them in the Epis for too long because they will start to get soggy.

  9. Air Fry the Epis covered cauliflower for 6-15 minutes or until crispy, and browned all around. If you are baking them then let them bake at 425F for 18-25 minutes or until they are crispy all around. Make sure to flip or shake them halfway through.

  10. Serve the crispy Haitian Epis Cauliflower piled high on a plate with a sprinkle of plant based Parmesan, minced red pepper, and minced parsley for garnish.

  11. Sing your song. Do your dance. Speak your truth and enjoy the Haitian Epis Cauliflower!
