INGREDIENTS:

Boiling Water (4-6 Cups)

Cardamom Pods (2 Tbs)

Clove (2 Tbs)

Black Peppercorn (2 Tbs)

Cinnamon Sticks (6-8 Sticks)

Star Anise (6 Stars)

Black Tea Bags (2 Bags)

Maple Syrup (¼ Cup)

Ground Nutmeg (1 Tsp)

Almond Creamer (1.5 Cups)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Boil a large pot of filtered water to prepare the tea.

  2. Crush together cardamom, clove, and black peppercorn until they begin to break apart.

  3. Bring the boil to medium high heat and add the crushed spices into the hot water, stir and add cinnamon sticks and star anise to the brew. Let the spices steep in the water for at least five minutes.

  4. Once you begin to see the spice colors spread through the boiling water, add in the black tea bags.

  5. Let the tea brew for five minutes.

  6. After 5 minutes run the tea through a fine strainer to remove all of the excess spice pieces.

  7. Add the strained Chai tea back into the pot to heat up and sweeten it with maple syrup. Add as little or as much maple syrup that you enjoy. Set the tea aside on low heat while you prepare the creamer.

  8. In a medium pot, boil and froth the almond creamer to make it thick and bubbly.

  9. When you are ready to serve, pour the tea into a cup ¾ full and then pour in your desired amount of frothy creamer.

  10. Top the drink with a sprinkle of ground nutmeg and pop in a cinnamon stick.

  11. Sing your song, do your dance, speak your truth and enjoy the Chai Latte!
